The Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge has joined forces with Trek Bikes, to bring you the ‘Trek Troopers’, put in place to help our last few groups out.
Without assistance from the City of Joburg, we could never have hoped to be lining up for the 21st edition of one of the biggest and most interesting timed cycling events in the world!
The Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge is proud to announce that iconic Swiss watchmaker, TAG Heuer, will be the Official Timekeeper of the race in 2017.
The Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge is predominantly supported by locals, with 85.99% of our riders coming from Gauteng. However, the stature of the event does attract international riders from as far afield as the USA who make enquiries about riding, and a French travel operator has joined the event for the last two years with an interest in packaging tours to ride the Cycle Challenge, to the French.
A two-person tandem can let a parent share the adventure of riding with a child who is not fit or skilled enough to ride on their own, allow a couple who don’t usually pedal the same pace or distance to enjoy a ride together, or offer crazy racing for two strong riders. However, there are a few things to bear in mind:

The Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge is very pleased to confirm that we will once again be hosting a UCI 1.1 Women’s Race. This will be the third edition of this prestigious race within the race, and we look forward to welcoming international, African and local teams once again.
