Traffic advisory: R511 open & Riversands Boulevard closed from 6 – 21 Nov 2017

Residents who have been utilising Riversands Boulevard while the R511 has been closed for road works should note that from the 6 November, Riversands Boulevard will be closed, and the R511 will be open.

Racefood announces their support in getting cyclists to the finish at #CC2017

Today, Racefood announced that they will provide some real food sport nutrition support for the cyclist at the up and coming Telkom 947 Mountain Bike Challenge (12 November 2017) followed by the main event, Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge, held in Johannesburg on 19 November 2017.

Participants in the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge are getting ready to line up for an awesome day in the City of Joburg, with closed roads and encouraging spectators, but the distance of this event is not to be taken light-heartedly.

Weltevreden Park Primary Grade 3 pupils say: “If we can do it, you can!”

Samantha Erasmus is a school teacher at Weltevreden Park Primary who went to ride the Namaqua Quest in the Northern Cape earlier this year. Because it was a distant multi-day event, she had to leave her class of 40 Grade 3’s in capable hands while she was away, but when she got back they wanted to know why she had not been at school.

The Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge is proud to announce that iconic Swiss watchmaker, TAG Heuer, will be the Official Timekeeper of the race in 2017.

Tourism impact of the Cycle Challenge

The Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge is predominantly supported by locals, with 85.99% of our riders coming from Gauteng. However, the stature of the event does attract international riders from as far afield as the USA who make enquiries about riding, and a French travel operator has joined the event for the last two years with an interest in packaging tours to ride the Cycle Challenge, to the French.
